Yaoundé - Nsimalen highway: Urban disorder leaves the markets and bus stations to settle on the highway

Uncivilized acts have been recorded on this infrastructure, which has just been opened to traffic: driving in the opposite direction, pedestrians crossing the road, use of the road by driving schools and motorcycle cabs, vandalism, aggression, use for sports, etc. The President of the Republic dispatched an interministerial team led by the Minister Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Office, Professor Magloire Séraphin FOUDA, accompanied by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU), Mrs. Célestin KETCHA COURTES and the Secretary of State in charge of the National Gendarmerie (SED), Mr. Galax ETOGA, to the field on Friday, September 09, 2022. Among other proposals retained: the construction of additional footbridges and guardrails, the construction of a barrier along the highway, the use of the video surveillance system already installed and the sensitization of the population or users so that the situation does not become permanent.
